A thoughtful, provocative,
passionate and tender exploration of the issues of transracial parenting through adoption.
Told through the stories of children and parents, single parents, two parent households,
families with children adopted from different cultures, families with both birth and
adopted children and adult transracial adoptees, they share their lives and their histories.
The joys and challenges of parenting are overlaid with the issues of race, adoption and
connection combining with the experiences of adult adoptees tell a story of what it means
to be a family. As Liza Steinberg, an African American woman who was adopted by
Caucasian parents says in the tape... "my bottom line
is...transracial adoption is very hard and it takes a lot of work, but it can work successfully
and it can produce healthy, happy children and adults, with a lot of work and the right
information and education."
